4 (a)  Explain three ways that online technologies that online technologies can be used to enhance traditional advertising methods.
You must use real media products/examples to support each of your answers.

  1.  Websites can have banners at the side and bottom of the page, an example of this is an advert for "Fantastic Beasts and the Crimes of Grindelwald" on the side of imdb. 
  2. YouTube videos can also have adverts before and during the video. An example of this would be an advert for the War of the Worlds musical tour on a video from Carrie Hope Fletcher.
  3. Another way is getting people with a social media platform to do a paid promotion. Examples of this is audible sponsering content creator Ally Hills to advertise them on her platform.
4 (b) Identify four distribution channels that are used by media companies to reach audiences
  1. iTunes
  2. Netflix
  3. Steam
  4. Spotify

Audience Theory - Uses and Gratifications The Uses and Gratifications theory was developed by Bulmer and Katz, it suggests that 'Media users play an active role in choosing and using the media'. Bulmer and Katz believed that user seeks out the media source that best fulfils their needs.
